Three-year-olds attend on Tuesday and Thursday and four-year-olds attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Both classes take advantage of children’s natural need for routine by following the same schedule each day, combining a balance of free and structured time, indoor and outdoor play, small- and large-group activities: |
|
9:00 am Free-Choice Time
Every child is personally greeted at the door by the Director and encouraged to participate in the art project of the day. Then the children are free to play as they wish. Inside, they find a play house, dress-up clothes, vehicles, manipulative toys, blocks, books and more. Outside, there are riding toys and balls, a sandbox and new play structure.
10:15 am Small-Group Time
During this time, the children are in a small group of up to 10 children. They do additional art projects, learn songs, listen to stories, and have “sharing” time. During this hour, the school provides a snack. Each child has a job which rotates daily, such as giving the weather report or distributing napkins at snack time.
11:15 am Free-Choice Time
After small-group time, the children have an additional half hour to spend as they please.

11:45 am Large-Group Gathering Time
At the end of the school day, the teachers gather all the children into one large group to learn songs, read a new book, or watch a puppet show.
